Inclusive education · Pakistan

Every child learns. Not every child learns the same way.

Edsistive builds the technology that makes inclusive education work — from diagnosing learning disabilities, through the support a child receives in class, to the systems institutions run behind it. Designed by technologists, designers and subject matter experts, and used in Pakistani schools and clinics today.

The pathway

Inclusion breaks at the handovers.

A child is diagnosed but nobody tells the teacher. A teacher adapts but it never reaches the record. An institution writes a plan it cannot staff. We work across all three stages, because the gaps between them are where children are lost.

STAGE 01

Diagnosis

Screening tools that let a parent or teacher spot a learning disability early, and give a clinician something concrete to work from — critical where specialist assessment is scarce.

Tools for this stage
STAGE 02

In-class support

Remedial and learning tools a child can use independently, plus the training that helps a teacher adapt a lesson rather than work around a child.

STAGE 03

Institution management

Records, assessments and education plans held in one place, with consultancy for the leaders deciding what an institution should run at all.

Products

Built across the whole pathway.

Tools for each stage of the pathway — identifying a need, supporting a child day to day, and running the institution around them. Below are some of the products in use today; others are in development or running as research pilots.

EAST
Early Autism Screening Tool

EAST

A cost-effective tool for assessing autism at an early age. EAST puts a structured screening process in the hands of parents and teachers, and produces results a clinician can act on — critical where diagnostic services are scarce.

What we do

Research first, then a product people can actually use.

Every product starts as fieldwork with the families, teachers and clinicians who will use it. Our team works in Human-Computer Interaction, publishes at CHI, and tests each build in Pakistani classrooms before it ships. That is the difference between software that exists and software that gets used.

Research

Our products are the output of published work.

In developing countries, learning disabilities are hard to diagnose, hard to act on and hard to track over time — and the gap between families and effective support is not closing quickly enough. Our research programme treats technology as the bridge across that gap, at every stage of it, and each study becomes a tool.
